Hey everyone,
So this weekend was our first weekend of Hockey East games, which is the conference that we are in. It is a really hard conference becuase all the teams are so close and work so hard. This weekend we had Boston University and Providence on Saturday then Sunday. We knew we had to work hard so we had very good practices all week.
But once we got to the games, we didn't play as well. I'm not sure what happened, but it wasn't the same team that was at practice. On Saturday, against BU, we lost 8-1. 6 of their goals were on power plays, meaning we had too many penalties. We did somewat well in the first period, but then it didn't get better. After a long night in the hotel (I now hate cities due to the traffic and noise that is given off of the highways and cars and such), we went to Providence, RI for our second game. We didn't start off well, but after having a "nice" chat with coach in our locker room, we kicked it in gear. One of our defense hurt her knee in the first period so we were down to only 4 defense, 3 freshman and 1 junior. We played well in the second and got better still in the third period. I scored as well, so that was really exciting. It was my birthday present to Dad!:D I was very happy the family was all at the house watching the game to see my first collegiate goal. Again, Happy 50th Birthday Dad!
This week we have a somewhat easy week. We had today and have tomorrow off of hockey. We are practicing Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, then having Saturday and Sunday off. We haven't had much time off as far as hockey goes because we've had games every weekend since we started, and since this weekend we don't have games, I think they are taking advantage of it to let us have time off and relax and recover. Classes are also going well this week. Love to all,
Ashley
